NP Lisa
Pennsylvania UPMC
The visit was with both the husband and wife. When I arrived, I
was told about pain the wife was experiencing which they
attributed to constipation. She suffers from MS and is wheelchair
bound.
She ate her breakfast as I asked my questions. When she finished,
she began holding her side and said the pain ran from her side to
the middle of her back.
I explained the signs and symptoms of gallbladder problems. I
called her primary care provider and they scheduled an
appointment for her that afternoon.
I explained that if her pain got worse or if she just did not feel
right, they should call 911 or head to the nearest emergency
room.
I followed up the next day and spoke with the husband. He ended
up taking her to the emergency room and she was scheduled to
have her gallbladder removed that day. He said they were very
thankful for the visit.
