Input: Input is the addition of information being entered into the computer. Methods to input data into
the computer involve a variety of devices including the mouse, keyboard and microphones.
Output: Converts machine language into an output understandable through human means. It may be
outputted through your speakers, monitor or printer. An example of computer output is the GUI found
in Windows and the programs that allow you to click on documents and websites.
Processing: Performs the arithmetic to compute responses and convert programming language to
machine understandable language, which is binary. It also locates and compiles information to be
displayed. Its responsible for directing the information flow and storage as well as managing essential
computer functions such as reading boot up code. It is the brain of the computer.
Storage: The storage is responsible for storing code and data. The storage composes of volatile (RAM,
Cache) and non-volatile storage (USB, Hard Disk, ROM). Volatile storage is deleted upon turning off your
computer.
