CHAPTER 1: MULTIPLICATION FINGER MULTIPLICATION: THE 9 TIMES TABLE Hold your hands in front of you with your palms facing you. Starting from the thumb on your left hand, mentally number the fingers from 1 to 10. To calculate the 9 times table, you need to fold the finger that 9 is to be multiplied with, Excluding the folded finger, the number of fingers to the left will give you the number of 10’s and the number of fingers to the right (both hands together) will give you the number of units. Let’s look at an example. To calculate 9 X 2, fold down finger 2 as shown below. The answer for 9X 2=18 Let us look at another example 9X 5.
