Music Project Volunteers

Main purpose To help with the special project of preparing the


Henry Watson Music Library for its return to Central Library which
will include rationalising, cataloguing and making the stock shelf
ready

What would I be
doing?

Supporting the service by helping with the following special project


tasks :

Disposing of discarded sets and other music stock


Rationalising and repackaging sets
Using the online computer catalogue and other prescribed
databases in conjunction with the above tasks by deleting
or changing information

When can I do my
volunteering?

We would like you to commit to volunteering for a period from


November to the end of the Academic year. We can discuss your
availability but would like you to commit to at least one day a
week (Mon Fri).

Where will I be
volunteering?

The majority of the volunteering will take place at Universal


Square (Ardwick) in the warehouse facility, which is just outside of
the city centre. There may also be some database work to be
carried out at City Library on Deansgate and in the office at
Universal Square

Who will be there


with me?

A member of staff will be with you on site at all times. This will be
either the Service Development Officer (Music) or a named
Neighbourhood Delivery Officer (NDO) who will be supervising.
You may not be the only volunteer and there may be agency staff
so you are unlikely to be working on your own

Support and
review

Regular support and guidance will be given by a named library


contact.

Training, resources A full induction will be given, and further training offered where
and information
appropriate.
