DIGITAL

COMMUNICATION
SYSYTEMS (3+1)
FIRST HANDOUT

OBJECTIVES
This course is designed to give an appreciation
of the principles of digital communication
systems. After completing this course you will
be able to achieve the following course
objectives: CLO 1: Be able to identify the main elements
of a digital communication system.
CLO 2: Understand source formatting, in
particular sampling, quantization, PCM and its
variants and multiplexing. This shall include the
baseband communication of digital signals

CLO 3 : Understand band pass digital

signaling and modulation techniques
and carry out performance
comparison of different modulation
scheme.
CLO 4 : Be familiar with the basics of
source and channel coding and
information theory.
