Canopy Design:

Designing a canopy for a thirteen feet high structure is not a serious challenge. If this canopy is about
to support on two columns and the column height is becoming less than the cantilever length of the
canopy will surely push the limits of the design and hence become a challenge.
My design of the shrine protection canopy is such a design having very limited space to keep the
supports and the boundary to cover is large compared to the plan size of the shrine. Most important
factor in design is that the ability to reach a mobile crane there is very less seems to be and the
supports for the temporary height access is also become tedious. Considering these factors my
canopy has to design in a manner that to fabricate at the site with lesser weighted parts. This will
increase the connection detailing work enormously. The assemblage sequence is another matter to
consider while the parts are broken into the manageable way. Certain main beams have to be split
into two using C Channels, then re assembling into one piece will generate the equivalent strength
to be achieved at the calculation.
This design calculation is rather different from the single unit of idealization. This has to work out
from more rigorously to see the actual deflections once the connections are introduced to the whole
structure with symmetrical geometry.
