An after school program for at-risk and underrepresented youth to prepare students for higher
learning by providing science education and hands-on experiments and activities.
Presentations and activities designed and implemented on a weekly basis for a group of 2030 students. Activities have included dissections, DNA extraction, architecture design and
model building, etc.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH EXPERIENCES

2015

Helped coordinate, set-up, and run a community event during which the public was educated
on interactions between phage, their bacterial host, the environment, and the impact on
human help this relationship has. Demonstrations included gram stains, cell cultures
undergoing lysis, cell lysis model using water balloons and confetti, and a build-your-own
phage station.

Cuyamaca College Science and Conservation Club
El Cajon, Ca

2013 - 2014

Student-run club that works to protect and preserve the Cuyamaca Nature Preserve by
promoting native plant and animal life while removing invasive species. The club also works
with community conservation groups to participate in local projects such as collaborating
with Lakesides River Park Conservancy to plant trees along the San Diego River.
