Shots VS.

Goals
Keaton Beckes

Introduction

My project deals with the amount of shots

25 certain Pittsburgh Penguins players took
in the 2013 2014 regular season, versus
how many goals those players made in the
2013 2014 regular season. I hypothesized
that for every 10 shots a player took they
would make 1 goal. I used an observational
method to gather data for this project.

Data Set
The Population of my data is all of the
players of the NHL.
The sample is 25 players from the
Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Individuals are certain players from the
Pittsburgh Pennguins.
The variables are Shots and Goals

Analysis of r and r2
The value of r is 0.942.
The value of r2 is 0.887.
The r value describes the correlation,
Therefore, my equation has a strong
positive correlation.
The r2 value describes how accurate the
equation is. Therefore, my equation is
accurate, 88.7% of the time.

Prediction
I predicted that for every 10 times a player
takes a shot they will make a goal.
My prediction was true 88.7% of the time.

Conclusion

I concluded that my prediction that a player

would make 1 goal for every 10 shots they
took was somewhat correct because it is
accurate 88.7 percent of the time, but it is
swayed slightly by outliers and lurking
variables such as the skill of the goalie they
are taking the shot against.
