‘To Whom It May Concem:
During the 2014-2015 school year, I have had the pleasure of being the cooperating teacher for Ms. Samantha Hoppe.
Not only is this a wonderful experience for myself, but also for the students. Everyday, without fail, Ms. Hoppe brings her
enthusiasm for learning as well as teaching into the classroom. Because of her nature, the students truly show a desire to
Jean,
Inside and outside of the classroom, Ms. Hoppe demonstrates her desire to have all students excel. Samantha always
looks for the best method of teaching a lesson. She is constantly seeking the answer to the question of “What works best
for the student?” She spends much of her time researching best practice as well as incorporating technology in creative
ways. Samantha is constantly evaluating what does and does not work in the classroom. This includes both in her lessons
and in her classroom management. She uses various assessment strategies and tools, as well as diverse teaching methods
to keep the students engaged and to improve their learning.
After observing and working with Ms. Hoppe, there is no doubt that she understands what it takes to be an educator.
Samantha continually demonstrates her competency of the Common Core as well as the diverse leaming needs of the
students. She has also shown her understanding of the specific Social Studies content and the skills and knowledge
necessary of the students. As our district begins its new transition into standards based grading and differentiates between
formative and summative assessments, Ms. Hoppe has done so by assimilating this into her own practices as well.
Classroom management is an integral part of teaching and without it, education suffers. As with all other areas, Ms.
Hoppe exhibits much expertise here as well. Samantha has carefully planned out lessons that encourage student
involvement as well as to help keep them on the particular required task. It is not only her teaching methods that create a
smoothly running class, but also her fair and compassionate personality as well. Samantha has easily formed relationships
with her students proving that she cares about their success both personally and educationally.
Any student, school, district and community would be lucky to have Samantha as a part of its teaching staff. It is my great
honor to highly recommend Ms. Samantha Hoppe to the profession of education, If you need to contact me, I can be
reached at 414-604-3200, extension 5520.
