Faxon alumni slate


open house Monday
FAXON The Faxon
Alumni Association will
host an open house from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at
the Eagles Nest.
The Eagles Nest contains
lots of memorabilia of the
Faxon School, which operated from 1902 to 1995, and
the town of Faxon. It includes items such as vintage newspaper articles,
school records, trophies,
photos and much more.
The public and Faxon
school alumni are invited.

Central High wins


technology grant
One area school was selected to receive a technology grant from the Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust.
Overall, 22 schools in the
state were selected to receive over $1.4 million in
grants, including Central
High Elementary School in
Stephens County.
The Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust provides funds for equipment,
infrastructure, leadership
and professional development to implement and advance integration of tech-

nology into classroom instruction. OETT grants help


schools acquire the newest
educational technologies,
like tablets, interactive
whiteboards and laptops, as
well as train educators on
how to operate and integrate these technologies
into classroom learning.
Each of this years
grantee schools will receive $40,000 to purchase
new technology equipment
and $25,000 for professional teacher training.

Southeastern OSU
names honor students
DURANT The Deans
Honor Roll for Spring 2015
has been released at Southeastern Oklahoma State
University, and four area
students have been recognized.
To be eligible for this
recognition, undergraduate
students must complete a
minimum of 12 semester
hours of college-level
courses (1000-4999) with a
3.5 grade-point average and
no grade lower than B.
Taylor Denise Barrick,
Connor William Kelly and
Clinton Wayne Miller of
Duncan made the Honor
Roll as well as Olivia L. Potter of Lawton.
