Milan Art Institute celebrates

Youth Art with Community Event
On April 18th, the Milan Art Institute brought children, families,
and others together to learn about art through fun, first-hand
experiences. More than 100 people attended the event held at the
Milans art studio in Queen Creek, AZ. The event, which was free
to the public, featured painting and drawing workshops led by
professional artists, pony rides for children, and an exhibit of
work by young artists. Parents had the opportunity to learn about
the Institutes upcoming schedule of Youth Summer Camps and
Homeschool programs. Some even engaged in the art workshops
and creative activities alongside their children. One lucky 7 year
old was the winner of a free art class as part of the days
festivities.
The Milan Art Institute supports learning in school, the home,
and in our local community. Programs and classes are designed to
teach technical skills in drawing and painting while fostering
curiosity, imagination, and creativity in a fun and encouraging
environment.

Join us for our annual Art Excursion Tours to Greece!

Tour One: May 18th - May 31st. You will spend 5 gorgeous days in
a remote traditional mountain village on your personal artist
retreat. Enjoy breathtaking vistas of Mt. Olympus and being
pampered in utter relaxation at an upscale bed and breakfast. You
will then visit the ancient port city of Kavala and nearby historic
Philippi to see the jail cell of Apostle Paul. Then return to the
beautiful, amazing city of Thessaloniki and experience culture,
shopping, and restaurants at their finest.
Tour Two: May 31st - June 14th. Enjoy the amazing city of
Thessaloniki; homeland of Alexander the Great. You will visit
museums, shop, eat, and dance! This is a city full of excitement
and adventure! Then you will experience a beautiful drive through
the mountains and take a short ferry to the historic and
profoundly unique island of Corfu. This island was the last
bulwark of Europe against the Ottoman Empire. This island's
nickname is the Emerald Isle, and it is truly a magnificent jewel.
Finally, enjoy the intense, unmatched beauty of the peninsulas of
Halkidiki.
Each tour can be done separately, or can be combined for those
seeking a full immersion experience. For details including

Spring Renovation Gets

Underway
We have embarked on an
ambitious renovation project to
refurbish the Institutes
classroom, office, and studio
spaces. Once complete, the
renovation will include an
additional 300 sq. ft. classroom
and a 150 sq. ft. office space. We
are also working on refurbishing
an old barn that will be made into
a brand new, 1500 sq. ft. studio
facility. Plan to join us at our
Grand Re-Opening Party on July
31st to celebrate our new space!

John and Elli Milan Featured in

Arizonas Guest Book

John and Elli Milan were selected as the featured artists in

Arizonas 2015 Guest Book. The Guest Book is an annual,
museum-quality book that delights readers with a savvy,
insiders view, available in-room at upscale hotels. This years
book includes photographs, essays, neighborhood profiles, and
a featured article on John and Elli - their creative process,
collaborative style, artwork, and vision. Copies of the Guest
Book are available at the Milan Art Institute.

Artist Spotlight: Sheryl Blahnik

We have so enjoyed getting to know local artist Sheryl Blahnik. She is a
multi-talented creative person who knows her way around a camera, oil
palette, and an embroidery machine. We have watched her break through
comfort zones and face the frustration of working through new techniques
and overcoming old habits. She has blossomed in her art lately and it really
shines. Besides being an awesome artist and always willing to learn new
things, she is an incredible person too. She is wonderful with children and
was a fabulous addition to the youth art event where she helped teach spray
painting. She is kind, patient, loving, generous, and always in a good mood.
Whenever Sheryl has signed up for a class we always know there will be a
positive, happy person at the easel. Weve loved getting to know you Sheryl!!

The Milan Art Institute is looking for two

summer interns from June through
September. As an intern, you will work closely with a small, dedicated
team of artists, educators, and volunteers in the marketing and operation
of the Institute. For the summer these are unpaid internships, however,
we anticipate there would be opportunity for the right candidate(s) to
join our team on a permanent, paid basis in the fall of 2015. To apply,

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis until the internships
are filled. Anticipated start date for both internships is June 1, 2015.
