There are three main types of conditional sentences: 1) Conditional with "if" and future tense, used to talk about a probable present condition. 2) Conditional with "if" and past tense, used to talk about an imaginary past condition. 3) Conditional perfect with "if" and past perfect, used to talk about an impossible past condition.     Sentence

    He will come if you

    call him
    He would come if
    you called him
    If you were a fish,
    the cat would eat
    you.
    He would have come
    if you had called him

    Something will happen if a

    certain condition is fulfilled


    The probable result of a
    certain condition that we
    suppose or imagine. The
    if- clause is not taking
    place at this moment, but I
    can imagine the probable
    result. We include here all
    the unreal.

    Fact : Present, Impossible
    If studied hard, I would pass the exam
    fact : I dont study hard so I dont pass the

    exam.
    If I did the assignments, I would not be
    punished
    Fact : I dont do the assignment so I am
    punished.

    If + had + V-3, would + have +V-3


    Fact : Past, impossible
    if you had studied hard, you would have passed
    the exam.
    Fact : you did not study hard, so youdid not
    pass the exam.
