Karate is a martial art that originated from Japan.

Karate consists of two words,


namely kara which means empty and te meaning hand so Karate is a martial art
with empty hands.
The organization for karate in Japan is Japan Karatedo Federation (JKF), the
organization for karate in the world is the World Karate Federation (WKF) and for
the organization of Indonesian karate is Karate-Do Federation Indonesia (Forki).
in karate coach is usually referred to as sensei and senior as senpai. karate
training places is called dojo and karate clothes called dogi.
The terms used in karate, namely Osh which means yes, Yoi which means ready
and Yamea which means stop
In karate comity done by bowing and saying "Osh".
Karate basic training is divided into three, namely:
1. Kihon, the basic movements in karate. Kihon movements consist of Horses
(dachi), Punch (Zuki), kick (Geri), and Parry (Uke)
2. Kata, exercise in the form of a pattern or movement.To do this exercise
needed breathing technique and good concentration. In Shotokan karate flow,
kata consists of 26 kata including

3. Kumite, or sparring. Kumite is part of Karate training which teaches karateka


to practice techniques of kihon and kata with earnest and high concentrations
as a form of exercise against the enemy. In karate kumite usually say the
word "kiai" when attacking with pace and power this is done to make the
enemy surprised so that the concentration is lost and hard to resist.
There are seven in karate kumite namely:
Kihon Ippon Kumite or fight the basic two-step
Keashi Ippon Kumite or fight two steps
San-Bon Kumite or fight three steps
Go-hon Kumite or fight five steps
Okuri Jiyu Ippon Kumite or semi-free two-step battle
Jiyu Ippon Kumite or semi-free fight
Jiyu Kumite or free fight
