Artistic Research

ARTS 251

Objective
Choose an artist who you admire.
Research about who they are, their background, how they
work with their medium, and what their main content is.
Use that knowledge to inform your own work of art. Either
copy their style and/or content.
Be creative and dont just merely copy a work of art.

Paper
You are expected to write a paper to accompany your work.
This paper will reflect your research on the artist.
Give some history on the artist and how/why they do they
type of work they do.
Then tell why you choose that artist and how your own piece
shows inspiration from that artist.
The paper should be a full page in length, 1 inch margins,
12pt font, and 1.15 spacing.
Use endnotes or a bibliography to site your sources. Remember
the school has a strict policy against plagiarism. Any plagiarized
work with received a failing grade.

Artwork
Size and materials are to be chosen by the artist.
You can be as creative as you want to be.
Either use the same material as the artist or make it your
own.
There is not a cap on size, I just ask it be a reasonable size,
remember smaller isnt always easier.
If you want to make your own canvas or wooden panel just
give me the measurements and Ill get you the material.
Otherwise, feel free to buy your own supports or make them
from your own materials.
