‘Historical Nassative
Amherst College acquired the property at 35 Tyler Place in 1963. What is now Tyler House
‘Dotmitory was originally constructed in 1932 when the property and existing house and outbuilding
‘vas sold by Clarance Cartwight Je to Deka Tina Delta fraternity in 1951. Uns 1925 che property
'was owned by members Profesor William Tyler and his chien. Prior to that, Property was
‘owned by Professor and Mn. Nathan Fiske. ‘The outbuilding (atn i noted on 1926 tax plat,
secords dating back to mid-I800's indicate the prescnce of a barn valued between $150 (186!) and
‘$50 (1901) butt cannot he confirmed if isthe same structure as exists today.
‘The cutent outbuilding appears to lack any devoid of architectural significance. Based on a 2012
study, it will cost atleast 10X the assessed vale to restore to safe condition.io LSA
