How does the style add to the meaning?

By comparing himself to blood, gas,
water, and electricity the poet shows he
gives life to the city. Without him, it would
fail.

The poet is using a volta to comparing

the everlasting beauty of his lover to
the beauty of summer.However the
poet is comparing his lover to death or
old age in the volta, but the poet is
saying positive things about the
person. So it went from a poem about
the summer to a poem about time, old
age.

So long lives this, and this
gives life to thee.

Confused about how to answer the question in the last box?

A GOOD Example: By using rhyme to create a rhythm the poet shows that people should strive for harmony and reconciliation.
Some BAD Examples:
The poem rhymes so it is easier to read.
The poem creates the image of an individual camped in a meadow.
The personification gives joy human characteristics.
The simile compares his sorrow and an arrow.
