Technology Integration
Students will use the first two websites above to research the responsibilities of both the President and the Vice President.
The Toondoo website will be used for a group of two students (president and vice president) to create a toon of the group
giving their ideas to make this school better.

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:

The key concepts of this lesson are for the students to demonstrate the knowledge by listing the voting process
and identifying the difference between the president and the vice president.
Academic Language is not addressed in IDT 3600.
This lesson is a continuation of MS social studies standard 1b and 1c.
The students will use this experience to better understand the voting process as we continue on to count the
class votes.
I am aware that the lesson will be differentiated for students who did not master the objectives and for those
ready for enrichment. However, modifications are not covered in this course and are not part of this particular
lesson.
PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:
Introduction:
Ask the students if there were one thing about the school you would want to change or add, what would
it be? Would it be to change the food in the cafeteria or add a new playground? Who do you think could
make those changes? You have a voice too. If it is real important to you there is a way your voice can be
heard. Voting.

will be displayed on the board and the students will see each one. Then there will be a pole for the students to
vote. The votes will be counted and the peoples choice will be revealed. The teacher would represent the
electoral collage and explain that it is her job to listen to what the people want, but also to make the best
decision for our school.
