12.15 Raise the window until the clamp

16 Slacken the clamp bolts two turns, then lift


the window to the top of the door and secure
it in place using tape.
17 On models with electric windows, undo

the 3 bolts and remove the window regulator


motor (see illustration). Disconnect the wiring
plug as the motor is withdrawn.
18 Set the handle in the 'Lock' position, then

lift the interior door release handle operating
cable end fitting upwards, and disconnect it
(see illustration 12.3).
19 Close the door, prise away the rubber
gaiter, release the 4 clips and pull the
connector from the door pillar, then disconnect
the door wiring plug (see illustrations). Push
the wiring harness into the door.
20 Open the door, and remove the exterior
handle as described in Section 13.
21 Undo the 9 bolts securing the inner panel
to the door frame (see illustration).
22 Undo the 4 bolts securing the door lock at
the rear edge of the door, and the single bolt
securing the exterior handle frame to the door
(see illustrations).
Manoeuvre the panel/
regulator from the door.
23 Using a suitable-sized drill bit, remove the
5 rivets (manual windows) or 4 rivets (electric
windows) securing the window regulator to
the door panel (see illustration).

Refitting
24 Refitting is a reversal of the removal procedure.

Removal
Exterior handle - front

13.1 Prise outthe grommet at the end of


the door

1 Prise out the rubber grommet from the end


of the door adjacent to the exterior handle
(see illustration).
2 Working through the aperture, slacken the
handle retaining bolt approximately 22 turns
(see illustration).
3 Carefully pull the trim and lock cylinder from
the door (see illustration). On models with
the Keyless Entry system, remove the trim at
the rear of the handle (where the lock cylinder
would be on conventional systems).
4 Pull the exterior handle rearwards, and
manoeuvre it from the door. Recover the seals
between the handle and the door skin.

can be pulled from the door

13.8 ... until the trim can be removed

15 Depress the retaining clips each side of


the lock remote control cable outer fitting,
and pull it from the support bracket, then
rotate the cable end fitting 90 and detach it
from the lever on the lock (see illustration).

Repeat this procedure on the exterior handle


cable.
16 Using a suitable-sized drill bit, remove
the rivet securing the lock to the bracket (see
illustration).

5 On models with the Keyless Entry system,


gently pull the handle antenna wiring harness
until an audible click is heard, and the harness
connector is in the horizontal position.
Disconnect the wiring plug.

Exterior handle - rear


6 Prise out the rubber grommet from the end
of the door adjacent to the exterior handle
(see illustration).
7 Working through the aperture, slacken the
handle retaining bolt approximately 7 turns
(see illustration).
8 Pull the trim at the rear of the handle
outwards (see illustration).
9 Pull the exterior handle rearwards, and
manoeuvre it from the door. Recover the seals
between the handle and the door skin.

Interior handle
10 Remove the door inner trim panel Section 10.
11 Detach the door release handle from the
door by undoing the bolt, unclipping the front
end, then slide the handle out in a forwards
direction (see illustrations).
12 Set the handle in the 'Lock' position, then
lift the operating cable end fitting upwards,
and disconnect it (see illustration 12.3).

Lock motor/module - front


13 Proceed as described in Paragraphs 1 to 10
of Section 12.
14 Press in the centre pins, prise out the
plastic rivets securing the lock and latch
retaining bracket to the door panel (see
illustration). Disconnect the lock wiring plugs
as it's withdrawn.

Lock motor/modules
26 Refitting is a reversal of the removal
procedure, but check that the door lock
passes over the striker centrally. If necessary,
reposition the striker before fully tightening the
mounting bolts.

14 Doorremoval and refitting

13.22 Press the centres from the


3 rivets ...

Lock cylinder
17 Prise out the rubber grommet from the
end of the door adjacent to the exterior handle
(see illustration 13.1).
18 Working through the aperture, slacken the
handle retaining bolt approximately 22 turns
(see illustration 13.2).
19 Pull the trim and lock cylinder from the
door (see illustration 13.3). If required, release
the clip each side with a small screwdriver,
and separate the lock cylinder from the trim
(.seeillustrations)

Lock motor/module - rear


20 Proceed as described in Paragraphs 12
to 22 of Section 12.
21 Depress the retaining clips each side of
the lock remote control cable outer fitting,
and pull it from the support bracket (see
illustration 13.15), then rotate the cable end
fitting and detach it from the lever on the lock

the lock to the bracket (arrowed)
(see illustration). Repeat this procedure on
the exterior handle cable.
22 Using a suitably-sized rod, drive out the
centres of the 3 plastic rivets securing the lock
and latch retaining bracket to the door panel
(see illustration). Disconnect the lock wiring
plugs as it's withdrawn.
23 Using a suitable-sized drill bit, remove
the rivet securing the lock to the bracket (see
illustration) .

Refitting
Handles (exterior and interior)
24 Refitting is a reversal of the removal
procedure. When refitting the exterior handle
on models with the Keyless Entry system,
reconnect the antenna wiring connector and
push it into the holder.

Removal
1 Disconnect the battery negative (earth) lead
(Chapter 5).
2 Using a Torx key, unscrew and remove the
check strap mounting bolt from the door pillar
(see illustration).
3 Have an assistant support the door, then
undo the retaining bolts in the top and bottom
hinges (see illustration).
4 Carefully lift the door from the hinges, and
support it on a trolley jack or similar.
5 Prise out the rubber gaiter, and disconnect
the wiring block connector (see illustrations 12.19a and 12.19b).

Refitting
6 Refitting is a reversal of the removal
procedure, but check that the door lock
passes over the striker centrally. If necessary,
reposition the striker.

Lock cylinder
25 Refitting is a reversal of removal.

14.3 Undo the upper and lower hinge bolts

1 Unclip the trim panel from the front of the


window opening over the tweeter speaker and
remove it (see illustration 12.6).
2 Undo the retaining bolt, then starting at the
top, pull the exteriQr mirror trim panel from
the door, and lift it from place (see iIIustration 12.7). Disconnect the wiring plug as
the panel is withdrawn
