Euler vortices
of a class of three-dimensional
Collapse
BY S. J. A. MALHAM
Proc. R. Soc. Lond. A456, 2823-2833 (2000)
There are errors present in ?3 of this paper that negate the result of lemma 3.1
and lemma 3.2. In particular, theorem 3.3 is incorrect and its conclusions are not
recoverable by the methods presented. The error stems from the fact that

This corrected inequality does not imply the collapse of the three-dimensional vortex
as originally proposed.
The author thanks Professor Keith Moffatt, whose insightful comments led to discovering the
error in the original article.
