Procedure

Show pictures of two cities


and ask students which city
they would prefer to go on a
holiday (or any topic you
choose). Students will
discuss in pairs which city
they chose and why. The
teacher draws a Venn
diagram and discusses the
similarities and differences
as a whole class.
The teacher helps students to
identify at least 3 main
points out of these
similarities and differences.
Students read a sample essay
and analyze it in pairs or
groups of three. They make
an outline of it, finding out
the compared subjects, thesis
st., 3 main points etc. The
teacher shows the outline of
the sample essay and they
check it as a whole class.
