understood the resulting hazards. Children must not
play with the device. Cleaning and user
maintenance must not be carried out by children
without supervision.
You can find further information at:
www.produktservice.info
7

Please keep the packaging and the instruction manual in a safe

place, in order to be able to pass them on to the new owner, if
you sell the GPS watch.
Do not operate the GPS watch while driving a vehicle, for
safety reasons. Stop, or let a passenger carry out the
settings. It is dangerous to take your eyes off the road, and
can lead to an accident, in which you or others could be
injured.
Never open the casing of the GPS watch or the chest
strap, they does not contain any parts to be maintained
(this excludes opening the battery compartment of the
chest strap, to change the battery, see point 9.2 "changing
the battery, chest strap").
Do not place any objects on the GPS watch and do not
exert any pressure on the display. Otherwise the display
may break.
Do not touch the display with sharp objects, to avoid
damage.
Like most GPS products, the use of this product depends
on satellites, which are operated by the US American
government. If there are changes in the satellite network,
this can influence the performance and precision of this
GPS watch.
Important: Always consult with your doctor, before you start
a regular training programme. The GPS watch is not a medical
device, it is a training aid to measure and display your heart

rate. Wearers of pacemakers may only use devices for heart

rate measurement on agreement with your doctor.
Information: The chest strap can contain latex components.
In rare cases, allergic reactions to this material, in the form of in some circumstances relatively serious - skin irritations and
redness, can occur. Therefore, even if you only notice slight
redness, please stop using the chest strap immediately. In this
case we would recommend that you visit a dermatologist.

2.2

Repair

In the case of a necessary repair or a technical problem, please

exclusively contact our service centre. You can find the
address on the guarantee card.

2.3

Waterproofness

The GPS watch is waterproof up to 30 meters, the chest

strap is water resistant. In the table below, you can see which
activities and conditions the GPS watch and the chest strap
are suitable for. The BAR information relates to the air excess
pressure, which was applied in the course of the
waterproofness test (DIN 8310).

Make sure that you do not press the push start when the watch
is wet. Water can get into the casing via the push start, and
damage the watch mechanism. Salt and thermal water can lead
to corrosion of metal parts.
Please note that in the case of extreme differences in
temperature (e.g. from the sauna to the plunge pool, from
sunbathing to the cold sea), the waterproofness can no longer
be guaranteed. Due to the temperature differences,
condensation can form, and therefore the watch mechanism
can be damaged.

2.4

Shocks and vibrations

The GPS watch is protected against impacts, that can occur

during normal wear on the arm.

2.5

Electromagnetic compatibility

Very strong magnetic fields (e.g. transformers) must be

avoided, as otherwise variations in the time measurement and
position determination can occur. The non-adherence to these
instructions can lead to disturbances or damage to your GPS
watch.

2.6

Environmental temperature

The GPS watch can sustainably be used at an environmental

temperature from 0 C to 50 C and stored at an environmental
temperature from -10 C to 60 C. Avoid high temperatures
(in a parked vehicle or through direct sunlight), and
permanently humid environments.
10

Information:
Disturbances to the display in the temperature area from -10
C to 0 C are not to be attributed to the watch, but rather the
impairment of the battery in the cold.
The electrochemical processes in batteries and accumulators
are strongly influenced by the environmental temperature. The
more the temperature falls, the more severely the processes are
impaired during discharging. Therefore, please note that at
temperatures below freezing point, the battery and/or
accumulator can "freeze", which results in the life span of the
battery and/or accumulator being impaired.

2.7

Battery operation

Your GPS clock is operated with a lithium polymer battery,

which can not be replaced. The chest strap is operated with a
3 V battery type CR2032.
Below you will find some information about handling
rechargeable batteries:
The rechargeable battery of the GPS watch can not be
replaced and must not be removed.
Keep the GPS watch away from heat sources, or
environments with high temperatures, e.g. direct sunlight
in a vehicle.
Do not drill through or burn the GPS watch.

11

Only charge the rechargeable battery of the GPS watch

via the USB cable provided. If the rechargeable battery is
charged in another way, it can lead to overheating,
explosion or fire.
Do not charge the rechargeable battery of the GPS watch
near to heat sources, or in the car in the case of strong
sunlight. The high temperature will lead to the battery
being damaged, and can lead to overheating, explosion
and fire.
Non-adherence to these instructions can lead to the shortening
of the operational life of the built-in rechargeable battery, or
damages to the GPS watch.
Below, you will find some information about dealing with
batteries:
Warning! Danger of explosion if the battery is replaced
incorrectly. Only replace with the same or equivalent
battery type.
Batteries may not be charged or reactivated by other
means, taken apart, thrown into fire or short circuited.
Always keep batteries out of the reach of children.
Batteries can be life threatening if swallowed. Therefore,
keep the batteries and chest strap out of the reach of small
children. If a battery is swallowed, medical assistance
should be obtained immediately.
Never expose the batteries to excessive heat such as
sunshine, fire or similar! There is an increased risk of
12

leakage. Non-adherence to these instructions can lead to

damage and sometimes even explosion of the batteries.
Remove the battery from the chest strap when not being
used for long periods of time.
Remove a drained battery from the chest strap promptly,
otherwise it can leak. In this case avoid contact with skin,
eyes and mucous membranes. Rinse any areas affected by
battery acid immediately with plenty of clear water, and
seek medical assistance immediately. If necessary, clean
the battery contacts and also the counter contacts in the
device. Keep the instruction manual for reference about
battery details. The non-adherence with these instructions
can lead to damage to the transmitting unit and in some
cases, lead to the battery exploding.

WARNING: To prevent battery leakage

Be sure to insert batteries correctly and always follow battery
manufacturers instruction. Never mix old and new batteries
(replace all batteries at the same time). Never mix Alkaline,
standard or re-chargeable batteries. Use only batteries of the
same or equivalent types as recommended. Do not recharge
non-rechargeable batteries. Always remove exhausted or dead
batteries from the product, do not dispose of batteries in fire,
battery may explode or leak. Do not short circuit the supply
terminals. Remove batteries from product before extended
storage.

23

Adjust the elastic belt so that the sensors fit firmly on the
chest, underneath the chest muscles. Place the chest strap
around the chest in such a way, that it fits below the chest
muscle on men and below the breasts on women.

In order to guarantee good contact with the skin, you must

dampen the contacts of the sensors, or use a ECG gel
(available from specialist medical shops).
The battery is already inserted in the chest strap, this is ready
for operation.

General about GPS reception

In order to be able to use the GPS function of your GPS watch

optimally, the following instructions must be followed. The
GPS watch is a global positioning system (=GPS), which is
primarily used for distance measurement, speed measurement,
height measurement and navigation using the US American
satellite network. The United States of America operate this
satellite network, and are also responsible for its precision and
maintenance.

24

Perfect satellite signal reception can only be guaranteed in

clear weather conditions (clear sky) and suitable reception
area - open area with clear view of the sky.
As satellite signals react very sensitively to outside influences,
poor weather conditions (e.g.: heavy snow fall) and a distorted
reception area (if GPS watch is covered by clothing or other
objects, high buildings or narrow valleys or gorges impair the
signal), significantly impede the performance and precision of
the GPS watch.
The GPS reception in buildings is severely limited to
impossible. Near to windows and in rooms with large
windows and a clear view of the sky, depending on the
position of the satellites at that moment, it is sometimes still
possible to determine a position. In internal rooms and cellars,
GPS reception is practically always impossible.

6.3.3

Training

A-GPS
The watch has the function of A-GPS (Assisted Global
Positioning System). A-GPS is a procedure which accelerates
the reception of the GPS signal, particularly in bad weather
conditions.
The A-GPS data is saved in a server, and transferred to the
watch via the GPS Master programme. The validity period for
this data is 7 days. For this function you need a computer with
47

an internet connection. In addition, the software "GPS-Master"

must be installed, see point 10 "GPS-Master".
Downloading the A-GPS-data
Connect the watch to the computer using the USB cable. In the
menu bar of the GPS Master, click on data transfer and then
on A-GPS. The current A-GPS data will be transferred to the
watch.

Switch on GPS
Here, particularly consider the information under point 5
"General information about GPS signal".

48

In optimum conditions, the search for satellites takes approx. 1

minute from a cold start, and approx. 10 seconds from a warm
start.
A cold start is when the GPS watch is being used for the first
time, has not been used for a long time, or has been moved
over a long distance since the last position determination (e.g.
300 km). Now the GPS watch does not know which satellite
constellation to expect, and must obtain the data again.
After that there is only the warm start, and in an optimum
case this takes approx. 10 seconds. A warm start can work, if
the GPS watch has not covered a large distance since the last
position determination, and not too much time has gone by.
The more satellites that have moved out of the sight of the
GPS watch since the last position determination, the longer the
search for satellites will take.
What is important for a fast GPS reception is, that the watch is
lying still and is not in motion.
Tip: Even before you start your running training and/or your
journey, place your GPS watch in an open space with a clear
view of the sky (e.g. on the window sill or the car roof) and
start the search for satellites.
To start the search for satellites, the following options are
available:
1) Select the menu point "GPS" "On/off" in the
adjustment mode, and set to "GPS on"
49

2) Press and hold the "VIEW" button in the GPS training

mode.
As soon as the GPS signal has been received, the following
symbol will appear:

Search for satellites

GPS-Status displays:

GPS signal received

Antenna symbol flashes - search for satellites.

"GPS fixed" appears on the display, the GPS watch has
found a 2D position (i.e. the height is still missing).
If this symbol appears, enough satellites have been found,
so that the GPS watch can determine a 3D position (with
height).
If satellites have been lost, and no position can be determined,
"GPS lost" will appear on the display, until a button is pressed.
Switch off GPS manually
To turn off the search for satellites manually, there are the
following options:
1) Select the menu point "GPS" "On/off" in the
adjustment mode, and set to "GPS off".
2) Press and hold the "VIEW" button in the training mode.

50

3) When the GPS is switched on and you have switched off

the watch with the LAP/RESET button, the GPS will
still keep running. The GPS must be switched off
separately.
Set GPS timeout
The function "GPS Timeout" defines the length of time, that
the GPS watch searches for satellites, before it gives up the
search as unsuccessful. In the adjustment mode, 5 or 30
minutes can be set for the GPS timeout:
Select the menu point "GPS" "Timeout" in the
adjustment mode.
Now select "5 mins" or "30 mins".
The basic setting for the GPS timeout is 5 minutes. If the GPS
is switched on and you go to an inside space for example,
normally the GPS watch cannot receive a GPS signal. To
conserve the rechargeable battery the GPS watch stops
searching for satellites after 5 minutes and switches off the
GPS.
Start/stop training
Press the "ST./STP." button in the GPS training mode, to start
or stop the training. In this way, the search for a GPS signal
and the heart rate measurement will be automatically activated
(if this has not already been done manually beforehand).

51

yourself, to record a lap time. Select the menu point "workout"
"Smart Lap" "By Dist" in the adjustment menu.
Set the desired distance, after which a lap will always be
marked (e.g. 1 km).
Then set it to "on", to activate the function "Smart Lap".
However, it is still possible to record additional lap times
manually, between the automatically stopped laps.
Activate the alert for "laps/distance"
When the alarm is activated, every time the GPS watch
automatically generates a new lap via the "laps/distance"
function, a signal tone sounds.
Select the menu point "Workout" "Smart Lap"
"Alert" in the adjustment mode.
Select "On" to activate the alarm for the "lap/distance"
function, and "Off" to deactivate it.

52

Automatically generate waypoints from laps

Like most magnetic compasses the GPS watch shows the

magnetic North pole. However, every distance on a map
relates to the geographical North pole. In this way an angle
arises. This is called the declination.
Magnetic
North pole

Geographical
North pole

Magnetic
declination

Magnetic
declination

65

In order to correct this declination, you can enter the degree of

the variation into the compass. This degree of deviation is
shown on maps as Easterly plus deviation (E) and/or Westerly
minus deviation (W).
Example 1: 23 westerly deviation and the compass shows
323 323 - 23 = 300
Example 2: 22 easterly deviation and the compass shows
278 278 + 22 = 300
Most maps have a small arrow which shows where the
magnetic North pole is and/or how large the declination is
(stated in degrees). Equally the website www.magneticdeclination.com is useful to experience the declination of a
location.

To enter the declination, select the menu point "Settings"

"System" "Compass" "Declinate".
Now enter the declination.

Energy saving operation

The GPS watch has an energy saving operation mode.

Thereby, the display is switched off to extend the life of the
rechargeable battery.

11 Technical data
GPS watch
Power supply: lithium polymer rechargeable battery, 380
mAh, 3.7V
28mA)
(1 x 3.7V
Precision of GPS: 3 metres CEP (50%) in the open air
The data for precision relates to the 50% CEP (Circular Error
Probability). This means, that with very good satellite
reception 50% of all measurements are located in a circle with

76

the stated radius of 3m. However, this also means that half of
the measurement points are outside of this radius.
Furthermore it is also the case that 95% of all measurement
points are located within a circle with double the stated radius.
Almost all points are therefore located within a circle with a
6m radius in the case of very good satellite reception.

I would like to start the training, why doesn't the GPS
watch show the speed?
For a fast GPS reception the watch must be lying still and not
in motion. Before starting your running training and/or your
journey, place your GPS watch in an open space with a clear
78

view of the sky (e.g. on the window sill or the car roof) and
start the search for satellites.
Please also note point 5 "general information about GPS
reception" in the instruction manual.
What does the display "GPS lost" mean?
"GPS lost" on the display of the GPS watch means that it has
not received any GPS signal or has lost all satellite signals.
See point 6.3.3 "training" in the instruction manual.
Why can't I see anything on the display?
Why doesn't the display illumination work?
Check whether the rechargeable battery has been charged and
if necessary charge it up. If you still can't see anything on the
display please contact the service address.
Why is the screen black, the displays are illegible?
This is caused by being exposed to direct sunlight or excessive
ambient temperature for too long. Let the GPS watch cool
down and then the screen will be legible again.
The display is reacting slowly?
Is the temperature below 0 C? When the temperature rises
above 0 C, the display will normalise again. Saved data will
not be lost due to this.

How long does the rechargeable battery of the GPS watch

last?
The service life of the rechargeable battery is approx. 16 hours
when using GPS and in the time mode approx. 1 year.
My current speed is not being shown?
Please check whether you have adequate GPS signal.
Why is the GPS watch showing a speed although I am not
walking/riding?
This depends on the precision of the determination of position
and/or the measurement intervals of the GPS watch. See the
next paragraph about the precision of the GPS watch.
How precisely does the GPS watch display?
The precision depends on the satellite reception. The level of
precision relates to the 50% CEP (Circular Error Probability).
This means, that with very good satellite reception, 50% of all
measurements are located in a circle, with the stated radius of
3m. However, this also means that half of the measurement
points are outside of this radius.
Furthermore, it is also the case that 95% of all measurement
points are located within a circle with double the stated radius.
Almost all points are therefore located within a circle with a
6m radius, in the case of very good satellite reception.

I can't charge the rechargeable battery of the GPS watch?

Please ensure that the USB port which you have connected the
GPS watch to, is live. It is not necessary to install a driver to
charge the rechargeable battery.
If there are problems charging the GPS watch, please check
the contact pins on the reverse side of the watch. If these have
been contaminated with sweat and skin particles, please clean
them with the cleaning brush included in the scope of delivery.
Why is an incorrect speed shown when cycling, compared
to the radio bicycle computer?
Never use a bicycle computer with radio transmission at the
same time as the GPS watch. The signal of the sensor from the
bicycle computer could disturb the GPS watch. Therefore, it
can lead to incorrect readings.
Can you mount a mobile phone and the GPS watch on the
handlebars of the bicycle at the same time?
It is not recommended, as it can lead to disturbances (radio).
Which types of sports is the GPS watch suitable for?
For outdoor sports such as running, cycling, walking, sailing,
skiing etc.
Can I also use the GPS watch to survey properties, houses
etc.?
The GPS watch is only for use in the leisure/hobby area. Do
not use the GPS watch if you need measurements with
professional precision.

81

Should I only use the GPS watch, instead of maps and

compass, when mountain climbing, during trekking tours,
cycle tours etc.?
The GPS watch was designed to supplement other forms of
navigation, e.g. maps, compasses etc. It does not serve to
directly replace them. Do not use the GPS watch as a sole
navigation aid.
Why can't I move the push button of the GPS watch?
Please check whether the key lock is activated, by pressing the
"LIGHT" and "VIEW" buttons at the same time.
Why doesn't the pulse measurement work?
Please check whether the battery is correctly inserted in the
transmitter unit. The small metal sheet in the battery
compartment must be above the battery.
