IGGY AZALEA

Rapper Iggy Azalea, born 7 June 1990, is the first to admit she
is an outsider to rap. As a young girl from rural Australia, raised
in a small NSW town (population about 3000 people). Iggys
background is perfect for rap and hip hop. It's remarkable to
think that, just six years ago, a 16-year-old Iggy touched down
in Miami airport, evidentially for a fortnight's holiday, but with
the intention of escaping Australia for good. She only knew one
person in the whole of the USA.
Early Years
Iggy Azalea, born Amethyst Amelia Kelly grew up in
Mullumbimby, New South Wales. In 2001 she went on an
American road trip with her grandparents. She visited places
like Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The idea of Iggy living outside
of the Australian Country side rapidly became appealing to
Iggy.

As Iggy grew up into her teenage years her love for music
increased. Out of all the types of music it was hip hop that
grabbed her the most. As well as artists like Busta Rhymes,
Missy Elliott, and 2Pac characterizing her musically.
Along the way, Iggy bonded with on other teenager, Derek, who
Iggy thought to be her only friend. She sent Derek rap songs
she wrote to ask him what he thought about them. Not very
long after that she was planning another trip to the states.
Arriving in the U.S.
A bit before Iggys 16th birthday she planned a trip to the U.S.
for two weeks to meet Derek for the first time the only person
she knew in the entire states. At the time he was living in
Miami, and he picked her up from the airport in the 4 th of July.
After that Iggy called her parents to tell them she wouldnt be
coming back to Australia.

After moving from Miami to Houston and then to Atlanta she

relocated again and then released the mixtape Ignorant Art, an
album inspired by trap music.
In 2012, she also signed with a giant firm, Wilhelmina Models
International, and very soon was named the New Face of Levis
Jeans.
