Swashbuckler: -

sword fighting, heroic characters, set in

Male hero, damsel in distress, romantic interest, clear morality


(Hero = good, villains = bad) codes of honour, pirates,
Sword and sword fighting, Bows and arrows,
And lavish costumes.

Disaster: - dealing with impeding or on-going disaster and


its aftermaths.
Volcanoes, earthquakes, tidal waves, tornadoes,
Fire, alien invasion, war, vehicles crashes,
Sinking ship, large cast of characters,
Multiple characters plotlines.

Fantasy: - heroic story set in an invented world which is a


fanciful version of our own world or a legendary and mythic
past.
Aliens, spaceship, wizards, witches, castle, ghost, super heroes,
Super villains, super powers, imagery places, fanciful plots,
Good versus evil and happy ending.

Quest: -

the protagonist goes on epic search for an object


of value or someone of personal importance.
Male hero, multi-skilled, romantic interest,

Sidekick, exotic locations, travel, villain with the same quest,


Danger, chases, grand finale moral.

Thriller: -

an exciting, suspenseful and tense plot in which


the hero usually overcomes
