DIMINISHED SEVENTH ARPEGGIOS
The diminished seventh chord plays a prominent role in modern musical composition.
An extremely useful chord because ofits flexible nature, itis made up exclusively of minor
thirds and can be interpreted in many different ways. Normally, however, itis found in the
minor scale, and its most common use can be seen in study #55.
Diminished seventh chords are easily linked together and sequences of these chords
are acceptable writing practice. Many varied chythmic patterns and harmonic progressions
sing the diminished seventh are presented in the studies so that the students may be-
