CHARACTERISTIC OF DECUBITUS ULCER ON PATIENT HOSPITALIZED AT HASAN

SADIKIN GENERAL HOSPITAL, BANDUNG ON PERIOD JANUARY 2005 DECEMBER

ABSTRACT

Background:
Decubitus ulcer might be a problem for chronic patients,unconciousness patients,
patients paralysis, and any patient whose laydown for along time in the hospital.
The Research shows that about 6.5 to 9.4% from general population of adults
hospitalized, got at least one decubitus ulcer during hospitalisation. In Geriatry the
incidence maybe more.
The Aim
To know characteristic of decubitus ulcer at Hasan Sadikin General Hospital inpatient, Bandung.
Methods of Study
This study conducted in descriptive retrospective study with range of periode between to by secondary
data from medical record.
Conclusion
From this study, there are 122 cases of decubitus ulcers since January 2005 until December 2008.
Results:
The result is, from 122 cases of decubitus ulcers from January 2005 to December
2008, consisted of 64 cases (52.46%) occurred in women and 58 cases (47.54%)
occurred in males. In the age group, less than 10 years there were 2 cases (1.64%),
after 10-30 years there were 31 cases (25.41%), aged 31-50 years there were 23
cases (18.45%), age 51 -75 year there were 47 cases (38.52%), more than 70 years
of age there were 19 cases (15.57%). Old complaints, less than 1 week in 12 cases
(9.89%), 1 week to 1 year 84 cases (68.85%), more than 1 year 26 cases (21.31%).
Location of the occurrence of decubitus ulcers on the sacrum there are 79 cases
(64.75%), gluteus 42 cases (34.43%), coccygeus 35 cases (28.69%), lateral

malleolus and the medial 25 cases (20.49%), calcaneus 23 cases (18.85%), scapula
17 cases (13.93%), posterior femoris 12 cases (9.48%), elbow joint 9 cases (7.38%)
and occipital 5 cases (4.1%) . Clinical staging of patients, stage II there were 26
cases (21.31%), stage III there are 73 cases (59.84%), stage IV there were 23 cases
(18.85%). Plastic surgery performed in 69 cases (56.56%), 24 cases against medical
advice (19.67%), 29 cases death before surgery (23.77%). At surgery, the use of
flap and STSG technique for 34 cases (49.26%), flap and primary suture is 11 cases
(15.94%), STSG and primary suture of 29 cases (42.03%), primary suture alone 18
cases (26.09%), all cases have been performed previously necrotomy and
debridement. Post-surgery, patients go home with improvements of 48 cases
(69.57%), against medical advice about 12 cases (17.39%), passaway 9 cases
(13.04%).
