Online Survey:
The easiest way to know about how people think about Punk Movement
is doing a survey; therefore I created an online survey to know more
about peoples opinions.
Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RQRNR3S
As a result I received these responses:
The participants were both genders, which makes the results more
accurate and precise.
Three quarters of the participants said they did not hear about Punk
before and they do not know what it actually means. Which means
most people nowadays do not have knowledge of Punk movement.
The question was about the meaning or definition of Punk. Half of the
participates know nothing about it, some said it means creativity and
others said it means anger which sums up the real meaning of Punk.
For the question what do you hate about Punk, half of the participates
said they hate everything about Punk which is shocking. They also hate
the dark colours and screaming which actually most people hate about
it.

Target market
Punks target audiences are both males and females aged between 17
and 25 who are interested in the punk genre of artwork and music.
Furthermore, people this age arent too young but at the same time,
they are at an age where they can relate with the thoughts that are
portrayed in the Punk Artwork.
Keyword
First of all, the main keyword is Punk, which is the name of the
movement that has the main results I used in my research. Secondly,
Punk artwork was so beneficial to find more examples in order to
understand the concept of the Punk movement. Thirdly, the Punk
Psychology, which was so useful and contained many materials and
videos that I used in the research and presentation and made me
understand the way Punk Artists think. Moreover, the documentaries
that I found were the most helpful thing for me to truly understand the
Punk movement. Besides, colours psychology was so helpful for to
understand why they choose dark colours with bright rather than light.
Colour
For the fact that our brain always finds a meaning of anything the eyes
see. For example, in Punk using red or yellow colors to show the anger
in someones eyes. Moreover, colors also contribute in creating specific
moods or expressing emotions and feelings. Punk Artists usually use
dark colors to express their feelings as some studies prove that darker
colors are typically related to negative thoughts. Not to mention the
fact that they use so bright colors with them also which gives a
confusing feeling.
Typography
Punk artists are known for using random text cut-outs from magazines
and newspapers to express the feeling of anger and dander. They also
use the font kinds that show anger whenever anyone looks at it.
Context of genre
Everybody has a different explanation of punk that has been found in
several countries. Thats why; the early stages of punk movement are
currently debated. The Punk name was firstly used in the sixties for
the garage musicians. The middle of the sixties saw the appearance of
the first band MC5 in Detroit who were truly simple and interested in
politics. The next stage was The Velvet Underground that was
started by Andy Warhol.
As it is obvious the foundation of Punk before the beginning of the art
movement was with the music bands, so afterward in the middle of the
70s in New York, the punk music and art began to connect and join
their works together. Thereafter, in 1978, several Punk artists who were
parts of the CBGB and some punk singers joined a huge punk art
exhibition in Washington. Later in 1978 in New York City there was a
punk art show that included some Punk movies and performances by
some of the most popular artists like Robert Mapplethorpe and Diego
Cortez.
After that, because of the poor economy in the UK, and the very high
joblessness rates, the teenagers were angry. As a result, they had
tough and convincing ideas so they express them to the world by the
Punk art and music.
Punk had finished its early stages by the end of 80s and had appeared
as a famous and popular power. With its growth in popularity, it began
to divide into many parts and started to create their own unique things.
