In ancient time, the people actually worshipped the Miyajima as a goddess. How to get in: Miyajima can be reached by sea from Hiroshima. The main ferry terminal on the mainland is Miyajimaguchi (), which can be reached from JR Hiroshima station either by train (400, 25 minutes, or 590 for an one way combination ticket with the ferry) or tramline #2 (270, 70 minutes). The tramline also passes by the Peace Memorial Park. Stuff worth seeing- Itsukushima Shrine, Senjokakau, Daisho-in, MIjyajima Public Aquarium, The Museum of History and Folklore. What to do- Climb Mt.Misen, visit Momijidani Park and Paddle Park. Food- Seafood especially oysters, momiji manju(small cakes made in the shape of a maple leaf, age momiji(cake with crispy surface but soft and sweet inside.
