Definition
Anorectal malformations are a
spectrum of congenital anomalies
that include imperforate anus and
persistent cloaca.

Epidemiology
occur in approximately 1 in 5000 live
births and affect males and females
almost equally

Presence or absence of anus
Gas or Meconium from perineum
Presence of vaginal or urethral
opening
Size of vaginal introitus
Size of anal dimple
Position of anus
Presence of presacral mass

Early perineal USG to confirm type of


anomaly
Abdominal USG and Acho to finding
associated anomaly
CT & MRI to reveal integrity of
sphincter muscles
