Dear Search Committee,
I am applying for the Senior Coordinator for Social Justice Education position working within the
Center for Leadership & Service at the University of Georgia. My genuine passion to support student
success and holistic development, combined with my drive to advocate on issues of social justice and
inclusion, makes me an excellent candidate for the job. I hold a Bachelors degree in Sociology with
a minor in Education from UCLA. I am completing my masters degree in Higher Education from
the University of Washington this spring 2015.
I am thrilled about the opportunity to work in a role such as this because I love cultural and social
justice education programming. I have been actively searching for positions that would allow me to
spread knowledge and cultural understanding to todays college students, faculty and staff. As the
Senior Coordinator, I look forward to supporting the centers vision of building active leaders with
strong service tradition and educating students on issues related to equity and social justice. I believe
the role is essential for empowering student to address social justice issues on campus and in the
communities we are apart of.
I bring a wealth of skills and experience to the Senior Coordinator position including full-time,
graduate & student-staff supervision; a passion for coordinating small and large-scale events and
programs; training student leaders and advising various student groups. I am skilled in project
management, facilities operations, as well as crisis and risk management. I am experienced in
allocating and managing large programming budgets and student fee based programs. I frequently
present workshops & trainings on social justice topics for students and staff and also a trained Safe(r)
Zone facilitator. I am also a graduate of the 2010 inaugural class of the UCLA LeaderShape Institute
and the lesson of challenging what is and looking at what could be has become my personal mantra
ever since. My professional experiences in housing/residence life, minority affairs, and diversity has
given me an understanding of how to make all students feel welcomed, connected to the university
environment, and become a vehicle for social change.
I believe I can be a valuable asset to the Center for Leadership & Service team at the University of
Georgia. I can be reached at the contact information above if you have further questions regarding
my qualifications. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
Respectfully Yours,

Dennis Denman
