Date Performed: April

OBJECTIVES

Demodulate a QPSK signal

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

TIMS301

Digital Multimeter

Connectors

Digital Oscilloscope

Multiplier
Sequence Generator
Phase Shifter
Tunebale LPF

PROCEDURE

Note: Make sure that all instruments to be used are properly connected
and in good working conditions, e.g. all probes should be checked for
connectivity to avoid errors.

1. Construct the diagram for the modulating a QPSK signal.

2. Given the block diagram for QPSK demodulation in figure 1 and 2. Set up
the receiver in figure 3 making sure that the demodulator was followed.
3. Vary the variables, observe and analyze the data gathered.

ANALYSIS and CONCLUSION:

To demodulate a QPSK, we have to multiply the QPSK signal with the

phase shifted carrier and then the output of multiplier is pass through a
low pass filter where A or B message will be recovered depending on the
phase shifter adjustment. It is A or B message since we can obtain both
messages of the QPSK depending on the phase shifter alteration. Like
previous demodulation process, this one undergoes filtering where the
carrier is eliminated so that only the message signals will be left.

It is clear from our data that the two input sequence were successfully
recovered. We obtain this kind of outputs by varying the adder gain,
phase shift and the LPF such that the output matches the input. Adjusting
the phase shifter and setting the LPF to wide is essential for the
demodulation process.
