Brian Webb
EOC Reflection- Algebra 1
In algebra one this year, I gave my sufficient effort all four quarters. Although the
material got harder as the year progressed, I was still able to pass with a B average. For
example, when I didnt understand the homework, I would text Brian and ask him for
clarification on what I did not understand. I also brought my notebook home every night we were
assigned homework so I could refer to what we did in class or the class notes we took.
I honestly think that I made a lot of progress this year even though my grade went down
from the first quarter to the second quarter. I feel smarter than I was when the year started even
though first quarter was a breeze. Before taking this class, I struggled with exponents and
thought you multiplied the base number by the exponent. However I now that you multiply the
base number twice or cubed. Not only did I learn algebra, but I also learned how to grasp the
material better, and remember it. For example, in the first quarter I would usually forget what I
had to do on the homework, but now when I get home I go straight to my homework and actually
remember what to do.
This year, I learned that I can study longer. At the beginning of the year I did not study as
much and was very unorganized. As the year went on I learned how to organize myself, not only
in algebra, but in every other class more organized because I keep my binder and notebook neat
and organized. I also used to barely participate in Algebra, but now I participate more during
class discussions about math or share my answer with the rest of the class. I also learned that I
am a fast worker. Minute math has made me become a faster and more efficient student, which
helps me complete my work on time in math, as well as in my other classes.
