Dear Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon,

Globalization is a very important aspect of everyday life all over the world. Generally
speaking, globalization is the free movement of goods, services and people across the world in a
smooth fashion. Globalization has allowed for nations to increase trade with one another, and to
build trust between countries, as well. Globalization helps to increase the economy in countries
across the globe which benefits those nations as a whole. It is also very important to understand
that by letting people move from country to country rather freely, globalization allows for the
spread of foreign cultures and ideas to be circulated so that other countries may be enlightened to
other ways of life that is not much the life they lead in their home country (Management Study
Guide).
A major player in globalization is the expansion and advancement of technology around
the world. By providing news reports and documentaries, people around the world are more
involved and informed about what is happening in the world around them. Because of television,
people are able to watch serious global issues such as updates on wars, natural disasters, and
various forms of drama that may occur in politics across the world. Television also allows for
countries to experience the way other nations live and the popular culture that is significant in
those countries. Technology and globalization allows for countries hundreds of thousands of
miles away to have similar values in popular culture without having to actually go to those
countries to experience it first-hand (Levin Institute).
I understand that you have been dealing with an issue about the deteriorating conditions
in Yemen, and you have been calling for an end to the hostilities and to restore full authority to a
legitimate government. I have heard that you condemned the kidnapping of Director of the
Office of the President, Ahmed Awadhi Bin Mubarak, and demanded that he be released.
Although your efforts have not been successful thus far, they have definitely made a slight
improvement. From what I have read, there has been a new government formed in the hopes of
ending a period of political turbulence and to create a democracy. Although this government has
been formed and there have still been outbursts of violence, I believe that the country is at least
starting to move in the right direction. I completely agree with your stance on the state of this
country and your desire to better their living conditions, and I do hope that they listen to your
demands sometime in the near future. Without proper government and cooperation from the
people living in Yemen, their condition will remain poor and will continue to worsen. Tying my
main points of the letter together, I would like to point out that I have gained knowledge on this
subject matter through a news article I found on the internet. This news article proves the fact
that globalization is very important in our world because it allows for members of other countries
to gain knowledge on other worldly issues such as the conditions in Yemen. Globalization and
technology are truly a significant factor in keeping the inhabitants of this world all connected.
Sincerely,
Jacob Walter
