City Council Unanimously Approves

Grantville Focused Plan Amendment
San Diego Councilmember Sherman praised his Council colleagues for unanimously approving the
Grantville Focused Plan Amendment. The plan will implement a vision to transform a primarily
industrial area into a vibrant community.
After many years of hard work by community members and city staff, we finally have a workable plan
to create a mixed-use community and revitalize the San Diego River Park, said Councilmember
Sherman.
In addition to creating much needed housing for San Diego families, the plan will also include an
additional 72.46 acres of parkland.
The Grantville Focused Plan Amendment will revitalize 280 acres within the Navajo Community Plan
and has the following main objectives:

Promote transit oriented development within walking distance of the Grantville Trolley Station
Promote revitalization of properties which are underutilized
Promote a multi-model transportation strategy
Provide additional market-rate and affordable housing opportunities
Facilitate the implementation of the San Diego River Park Master Plan.

This plan helps us realize our goal of creating a city of villages that focuses on the use of public transit
in our region, said Sherman.
