KCPS Superintendent Search Process Timeline

The KCPS Board of Directors has approved a superintendent search process and developed a
tentative timeline for implementation, with a desired goal of identifying and hiring a
permanent superintendent prior to the 2016-2017 school year. Following is a general timeline:

KCPS Board approves employment contract for interim

superintendent;
KCPS Board selects superintendent search consultant;
KCPS Board develops draft superintendent job description, draft
candidate profile

July 2015

Search consultant conducts community engagement including

online survey tool, focus groups and town hall meetings to
gather input on draft superintendent profile and draft job
description with stakeholders: Parents, Teachers and Principals;
KCPS Students; Business and Civic Partners;
Search consultant convenes town hall to report results of
community engagement and input;
KCPS Board approves candidate profile and job description;
superintendent position is posted and announced

August to
KCPS superintendent applications reviewed and screened by
December 2015 search consultant, KCPS Board
October to
March 2016

KCPS Board interviews finalist candidates;

Finalists introduced to community;
KCPS Board approves superintendent;
New superintendent announced
