STIPULATED PERIOD CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS LEGAL NOTICE.

REPLY TO THE LEGAL NOTICE

We act on behalf of the President, Habib Bank Limited, Habib Bank Plaza, I.I. Chundrigar
Road, Karachi (hereinafter referred to as Our Client) and are responding to your legal
notice dated 10/07/2004.
In reply to your legal notice please be advised as follows:
1.

That on the receipt of complaint from the University of Punjab, Habib Bank Limited
(the Bank) has lodged an FIR No. 29/2004 dated 14/06/2004 with Federal
Investigation Agency against its Cashiers namely Riaz Ahmad Bhatti S/o Sultan
Buksh and Muhammad Mushtaq S/o Muhammad Bashir posted at its New Campus
Branch, Lahore for alleged fraud and forgery. The matter is still under investigation
with the said agency.

2.

That the University of Punjab (the University) has made a claim for reimbursement
of Rs.0.460 Million and Rs.1.896 Million [total Rs.2.356 Million] to the Bank on
account of amount misappropriated by the cashiers. In this respect, it is submitted that
our Client desires that the University should check up all its record and make a
consolidated claim for all such amounts and the relevant documents be submitted to
our Client for verification and determination of the total amount misappropriated by
the cashiers.

A copy of this reply has been retained in our office for further reference.
