How to use UBNT airlink? Calculate P2P wireless distance easily
Today I am going to show you a better way to calculate the distance using ubiquiti airlink online
support. This tool is special for those guys who are using ubnt devices for their ptp and ptmp links.
Follow the steps below and you will get atleat 90% positive calculations.
1. First open this website http://www.ubnt.com/airlink. If it prompts to install the google
pluggin then install it. For reference check the image below. When you install the google
earth pluggin, restart your browser

2. After restarting the browser reopen the airlink website shown above. You will see the
google earth aerial view, like you can see on the image below.

3. Beside the airlink website, open another

website http://www.itouchmap.com/latlong.htmlNow enter the closest location or biggest
city name near your basestation or the location of your main tower where you want to set
the access point. See the image below for reference.

4. Now move the red marker to the exact location of you basestation or access point.

5. After the setting of your red marker, scroll down and copy the latitude and longitude of
the marker location as seen on the image below.

6. After getting the latitude and longitude from the website, select your device, tower
height and frequency band you want to use e.g. 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz. Paste the latitude and
longitude on the airlink location properties of your access point and press CENTRE MAP ON
THIS STATION BUTTON! Then click CONFIGURE NEXT STATION to set the properties of your
station device See the images below for reference

7. Do the same procedure for the next station device and click VIEW CALCULATIONS. see
the image below for reference

Here you go! you can see the exact signal strength, height, any obstacles and Fresnel zone
of your ptp link. I always use this technique before going to buy the appropriate devices
and get 90% results and performance after installation of the devices using this airlink
help. I hope you like this article and sorry if you did not understand anything or I missed
something in this.
