Allowed me to apply what I learned about the 6 principles


that advance student achievement in highly effective
schools in order to take a deeper look into my current
school. This process gave me the opportunity to evaluate
our Title I program and School Improvement Plan
through each of Blanksteins 6 principles, looking to
ensure success for all of our students.
This paper allowed me the opportunity to look deeper into
PLC teams at my school and district using Bolman and
Deals Four Frames. This included an in-depth look into
the structural, human resource, political, and symbolic
frames and how they impact our PLC teams. Learning
how to use these frames will give me the knowledge I
need to make educated decisions with an emphasis on
what is best for all stakeholders involved.
Reading The Advantage, responding to it through the
Moodle Post, and reading through the posts of my peers
allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the roles
and responsibilities of a leader and how important it is to
align all stakeholders with the vision of learning and
success for all. The choices a leader makes have a crucial
impact on the overall vision for the entire organization.
Looking at the standards for teacher leaders is imperative
to consider when working to distribute leadership among
teacher leaders. We must first understand the teacher
leader standards and then work to incorporate distributed
leadership to move our schools forward with regard to
vision and success for all. Responding on Moodle and

responsibility and one that gave me a chance to
think about what is most important when

Creating a staff induction plan for new teachers was
a great way to look at what kinds of professional
learning a new teacher would need in order to find
success. Providing appropriate support for new
teachers is critical for their own personal learning.
When they are supported and given the tools and

financial health and well-being of the school district

Reflection
This process gave me the opportunity to evaluate our
Title I program and School Improvement Plan
through each of Blanksteins 6 principles, looking to
ensure success for all of our students through all
avenues including working alongside families and
community members.
Sharing methods for marketing districts gave us the
opportunity to learn how to truly market a district to
all stakeholders in an effort to shine a spotlight on all
of the points of pride of our district thereby working
to entice more families to enroll their children in our
school district.
Listening to teams present reviews of articles on
topics such as marketing, branding, financial issues,
school safety, crisis management, dealing with
media, and curriculum helped me to understand the
variety of ways that schools must interact with all
stakeholders and how they must be very careful to
respond to all situations.
Serve as Summer Reading Challenge coordinator for
all Davison elementary schools I was able to work
directly with staff, students, parents, and community
members to promote and encourage summer reading
for all elementary age students, thereby decreasing
the likelihood of summer learning loss.
Serve as Family Reading Night project coordinator
working with staff and stakeholder groups to
develop a successful parent involvement event
providing parents and students with a fun,
educational event aimed at strengthening the
connection between home and school.
Survey parents on satisfaction of Title I programs
and hold Title I parent meetings to share survey
