Design Topic: Closing the Gap- Using Technology to improve Coordinate Algebra EOC Scores Subject: Coordinate Algebra

Designer: Amy Couchigian Lawson

Grade: 9th grade

STAGE 1 DESIRED RESULTS

Unit Title: Incorporating Technology to assess student understanding of a mathematical standard.
Established Goals: Teachers will be able to effectively assess students using Web 2.0 tools in order to provide
differential instruction in a lesson to all students to meet their needs in Coordinate Algebra.
Understandings: Students will understand that
How to use technology to create math assessment to determine student understanding of a given math standard/concept.
Students will know:
How to create a math assessment using Web 2.0 tools.
STAGE 2 ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE
Performance Tasks:

- Create a online assessment using a Web 2.0 tool for the math concept used in the prior lesson.
- Write a one page reflection about the lesson
Key Criteria:

Assessment must be created using a Web 2.0 tool and review the concept used in Thinglink
from previous lesson.
Write a one page reflection discussing the following topics:
Student results from the poll
How you used assessment data to help with you DI class instruction.
Thing you felt worked well/didnt work.
Things you would do differently next time.

STAGE 3 LEARNING PLAN

Summary of Learning Activities:

Participants will create a simple assessment using a Web 2.0 (example of different tools will be
provided). This assessment will be implemented in the classroom following the
implementation of the Thinglink resource. Participant will use instant data to form different
groups based off of student needs.
Participants will reflect on class lesson. A one page reflection should cover student poll results
from Thinglink, how the participant used assessment data to form groups based off of student
needs, and what they liked/didn't like or want to change.
