What

are the
NCAA academic
eligibility requirements?
To practice, compete, and receive athletically-related financial aid at an
NCAA Division I or II institution, the student must:

Complete 16 core
high school
courses (10 must
be done before
your 7th semester)

Maintain a
minimum 2.3 GPA*
in these core
courses.

Earn the minimum


SAT or ACT score
determined by the
NCAA sliding scale.

Graduate from
high school.

*If you achieve at least a 2.0 GPA, you can still qualify for a probationary semester of practice, only (no competition).

THE MYTH OF CLASS RANK


The NCAA Clearinghouse requirements do not emphasize class rank, but rather, GPA and
test scores when assessing college preparedness:

Division I uses a sliding


scale to match test
scores and core-course
GPAs to determine
eligibility.

The NCAA uses only the


critical reading and
math SAT scores to
determine eligibility.
The writing score is not
used.
