WEEKLY ACTIVITY LOG

TOPIC: Turbine wheel assemble

DATE: 3/11/2014

Start: 2.00 PM End: 7.30 PM

The process of wheel assembly was started with hole drilling work of the wheel blades and the
wheel hubs. Sallehuddin and Fadril were assigned to run this assignment.

To join the hub with the blades, we come out with idea to use mechanical fastener (bolt and nut) as
our joining process to meet our concept of our design which focusing on portable type of turbine.
For this assignment, Shahrul and Nadrie were assigned to identify and get the specific size of bolt
and nut to be use.

Since the drilling job conducted earlier was assigned not to the one person, the positioning of the
holes was slightly inaccurate. The holes were altered to make it sure that bolt can be inserted to
join the blade and the hub.
Since the blades can be assemble and disassemble, the blades and hubs holes were signed with
the code to ensure that the hubs hole and the right blade can be attach for the next assembly.

The wheel assemble was put at the support structure and reviewed
whether it fit or need the changes in dimention.

From the review, the wheel assembly fit the support structure with just a small
tolerance which we concluded that we need to make a little changes either in wheel
dimention or a little changes in support structure to ensur that the wheel will rotate
without obstruction.

The changes was decided to be discuss in our next meeting, and the result of which part that will be
alter will be make in next fabrication session.
