    ThePlayDatewillofferafunenvironmentforgueststolearnaboutsicklecellanemiaandtheworkthe
    foundationdoesforthethecommunity.TheeventprovidesadifferentwaytogetinvolvedintheBaton
    Rougecommunitywithfood,drinksandgames.Thefoundationwillberafflingoffseveralitems,from
    LSUSECbaseballtickets,JazzFesttickets,localboutiquegiftsandrestaurantgiftcards.Aportionof
    theproceedsfromtheeventwillbedonatedtothefoundation.

    ThePlayDatewillprovideeducationalfunandarelaxingtimeforapopulationofpeoplewho
    sometimesliveaverystressfullife,saysthefoundation'sExecutiveDirectorLorriBurgess.

    Theeventsmaintargetaudienceisyoungprofessionalsandupperlevelcollegestudents,astheywill
    soonbecomedecisionmakersinthedevelopmentoftheBatonRougecommunityhowever,allare
    welcometoattend.

    TheBRSCAFinvitesthecommunitytocomeplayapartinthiseventinanefforttoraiseawareness
    ofthesicklecellanemiadisorderandsupportfamiliesandindividualswhobattlethediseaseeveryday.

    Sicklecelldiseaseisthenumberonedetectedblooddisorder,butitisthelowestfunded,says
    Burgess.Peoplelivingwithsicklecellneedpublicsupport,sopleasecomeoutandsupportapartof
    ourcommunitythatneedsallofourhelp.

    TheBatonRougeSickleCellAnemiaFoundation,Inc
    wasestablishedin1974.TheFoundation
    services11parishesinLouisiana.Currently,therearemorethan600personslivingwithsicklecell
    diseaseintheservicearea.Thefoundationisproudofitsongoingeffortstocontinuethefoundations
    missionofcreatinginnovativeprogramstoprovidefinancialandadvocacysupportgroupstothose
    livingwithsicklecellanemia.TheBatonRougeSickleCellAnemiaFoundationdependsonfinancial
    assistancefrombothprivateandpublicdonationstoprovideservicestoitsclients.
