Robert Hickey Announces Candidacy for City Attorney
Endorsed by Sheriff Bill Gore Robert Hickey, a veteran prosecutor for San Diego County District Attorneys Office, announced on Tuesday his candidacy for City Attorney of San Diego. Hickeys 21 year legal career includes leadership positions as the Assistant Chief of the Gang Prosecution and the Major Narcotics Units. He received the 2011 Prosecutor of the Year award for his successful prosecution of the notorious Dr. Js murders in Southeast San Diego where two women were killed and a seven year old boy was severely wounded. Hickey spent eight and a half years working with SDPD and his team in the DA's Gang Unit to solve the case and convict the killer at trial. In my career in both public and private practice, I am most proud of taking criminals off the streets and bringing closure to the families of victims and the Southeast San Diego community, says Hickey. Hickeys experience managing criminal prosecutors is important for a City Attorney because under Proposition 47, the City Attorneys office expects a 15% increase in prosecutions in the Criminal Division. The Criminal Division is currently the largest division in the City Attorneys office with approximately 130 employees. Robert is an outstanding criminal and civil litigator who practices law with integrity and honor, said Sheriff Bill Gore, who endorsed his candidacy upon announcement. I have seen Robert lead complicated investigations and prosecutions. Most importantly I have seen Robert succeed in leading a team of attorneys - something he will do well as San Diego City Attorney. Hickey adds, San Diego needs an independent City Attorney who will provide the best, unbiased legal guidance to the Mayor and City Council. My legal and management experience make me the right candidate to lead San Diego forward. Hickey lives in Point Loma with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he coaches Little League and is a lifelong surfer. ### Paid for by Hickey for City Attorney 2016, 7185 Navajo Rd Ste P, San Diego, CA 92119
