Mitch Lucker: The Legend of Hardcore Rock

By Krystin Visser

Mitchell Mitch Adam Lucker, born on October 20th 1984 in Riverdale California. He lived
with both his parents and he had two siblings. He was diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder
and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder at a very young age, Ever since he was a child he would
scream, other parents would look at us like we were crazy, but that was just Mitch. Says his
mother, he always had a strong passion for music; he used it to express his emotions. Mitch
was an uncontrollable child, very wild and always in motion, but in 2002, he and the harmony
guitarist (Chris Garza) from his brothers band decided to start Suicide Silence. Their rise to
fame was very fast, their first record took off, it sold over 7 250 copies in the first week and
debuted at number 98 on the Top 200. Their music was influenced by Black Metal, Grind Core,
Math Core, and Groove Metal. Their style is Death Core, a mix

became one of Century Medias top selling records. Suicide
Silence came out with two more albums, No Time to Bleed and The Black Crown. Mitch loved
to perform, I love the adrenaline rush I get when Im performing, its so exhilarating! But when
Im off tour, I have to get adrenaline because I cant have with drawls. Thats why I have my
Harley, I love the danger of riding my bike, and I get the rush I need when Im not
touring. he says from an interview with Kerrang! Magazine. Mitch and his now wife
Jolie had a daughter named Kenadee in 2007 and did get married in
2010. He was known for a signature move me make on stage whenever Suicide
Silence went on tour. It is called The Mitch Lucker Stomp, he stomped every
time the beat of the song changed, and the fans go crazy
every time. Mitch is literally covered in tattoos (as seen
in
Figure 2) and each tattoo has some special connection
to him,
for example, the owl on his lower torso is to
signify
strength and wisdom, it was also for his daughter
Kenadee because thats what they put as the
theme
for her room. Sadly, Mitch passed away on
November 1st 2012 due to a motor bike accident

The Cleansing was the

first album Suicide Silence released and it debuted at
number 98 on the Top 200
chart, it also sold 7 250 copies in the first week of
release and continued to sell
more and it made it into one of the top selling records in
Century Media history. It had
the theme of Anti-religous because thats what
Mitch felt that had to be written. When

went wild for
the CD it sold over 14 400 in the first week!!
It made it to number 28 in the Top 200 chart, number 7 on the Rock chart, and number 3 on the
Hard Rock chart. Some fans loved the CD but others were enraged, only because it wasnt like
the previous albums. It had more thought put into the lyrics and as Mitch put it This is my head
cracked open and poured on paper! I still have the same beliefs and same views, but Im more

open to everything, [] at this point in my

life, I dont see the good in making people
hate you say. This record is for
everybody. Both these albums made it to
the Top 200 and they were both very
successful in their first week of sales. But
it just shows how much the band has
changed, how much Mitch has changed.
Mitch was in a motorbike accedent on
October 31st 2012 at about 8:55 pm, he ran Figure 4: Suicide Silence in a photo shoot in 2011
into a street pole with his Harley Davidson 2013 model motorbike in Huntington Beach
California. He was intoxicated when he died, and his wife, Jolie, even blocked the door so he
woudnt leave, but he still left. He drove out into the night and
never returned, Jolie got the call he had been in an accedent and
went to the hospital, he died at the hospital at 6:17 am. She cried
for hours, and didnt know how to tell Kenadee that Daddy was
never coming back. There was a memoriam at the crash site on
the night of Nov 1st and 300-400 fans attended wearing Suicide
Silence merchandise, as well as family and friends came to show
Figure 6: Mitch and Kenadee on the night before Mitch's death their love for the Heavy
Metal icon.
Mitch will always be remembered, he changed the life of many,
and was a great family man. Even after Figure 5: Mitch posted this pic a few nights
his death he will aways be remembered, before his death on Instagram with the
caption "Caught smashin on the 55 fwy last
he lived his life the way he wanted night @00rjroyer00 good times"
to.
Although he is gone and left many broken hearted and
wishing they could have him back, they have the music he
left behind. He is a legend, and he will forever be
remembered, keep stomping in the heavens. R.I.P. Mitch
Adam Lucker. You will be forever in our hearts.
