American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Walk Coordinator (2009-2013)
State University of New York at Plattsburgh, Plattsburgh, NY
Addressed the subject of college student depression, suicide, and other mental
health issues bringing about awareness, education through forums, and support
through the annual Out of the Darkness campus walk. Managed an executive
board of, risk management, community advocate, public relations, recruitment,
operations management, finance, plus volunteers. Forums were held to support
the student body and community prior to the walk. Forums educated on the
stigmas of mental illnesses, warning signs of suicide, post grieving, media
coverage, and the truth about suicide among college students. Effective advocate
for bringing suicide out of the darkness in the Plattsburgh community and
campus community. Organized fundraising efforts for the American Foundation
for Suicide Prevention. Assisted families and friends who have survived suicide
loss, also, guided many individuals who were suffering with what to do for a
loved one(s) dealing with depression and thoughts of suicide.
Sister of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority (2009-Current)
Phi- Tau Chapter, SUNY Plattsburgh, Plattsburgh, NY
Achieved the position of sunshine chair, two terms; a position that was
established to motivate the chapter to stay positive. Participated within
the philathropy committee, 1 term; to improve philathropy events
supporting Sharsharet and the Elizabeth Glaser Foundation. Established
andhelpedcoordinateBaldforBoobies;afundraisingeventtoraise
awarenessandproceedstowardsSharsheret,Jewishwomenbattling
breastcancer.Collaborated with another sister as historian, 1 term;
responsible for documenting the chapters year. Delegated as Assistant
New Member Educator, 1 term; developed a syllabus and facilitated in
the lesson plans to educate incoming members of our chapter, the history
of Alpha Epsilon Phi, Philanthropies, and services within the community.
Organized time management of events, scholarship, and meetings. As
Alumni chair, 2 terms, I executed new ways to communicate with
alumni, to keep them informed with each other as well as with the
chapter. Custimized surveys to discover how to meet their needs.
Coordinated a weekend for alumni to visit in the Fall and the Spring
semesters. Sat on executive board, 2 terms, as VP of Membership,
recruiting new members for the chapter. Strengthened recruitment with
events coordinated along side with two chairs that I oversaw. Developed
better communication through social media networks, leading to an
increase in potential new members. Mediated interviewing and voting
processes. Participated in executive board meetings and final decision
making.
