Tender Coconut Water The water of Tender Coconut is a sterile, nutritious, thirst quenching
health drink. The pure and sweet tender coconut possesses enormous therapeutic
properties and is a thirst quenching refreshing health drink for all age groups. It is loaded
with natural sugars, salts, and vitamins and is low in fat, calories and has no cholesterol. It's
a highly rejuvenating tonic that can ward off fatigue in an instant. Tender coconut water has
the same level of electrolytic balance as we see in our blood. The processing and packing of
tender coconut water with a capacity of 10,000 tender nuts per day involves an investment
ranging from Rs.35-40 lakhs covering plant and machinery and margin money for working
capital with a direct employment potential of 30 personnel. The profitability after taking into
account the prevailing prices of finished product works out to be around 20 per cent with a
pay back period of 3 years. Tender coconut water enjoys a great potential as a health drink
in India and international market. The Coconut Development Board in collaboration with
Defence Food Research Laboratory, Mysore has developed the technology for packing
tender coconut water in pouches/aluminium cans, which is available to entrepreneurs at a
total lumpsum transfer fee of Rs.3 lakhs.
Process
Coconut Water of 6-7 month stage is first filtered through pressure filters and then mixed
with the desired proportion of additives plus sugar and concentrated to the appropriate level.
The water is then packed in pouches/cans and retorted in an autoclave, after which it is
cooled in a stream of cold water
