designed for the Rossi family
who have recently moved to
America from Italy. Antonio
Rossi will be taking a job at
the National History Museum
and specializes in Ancient
Rome. They requested
spaces to show their art
collections and a design that
reflects both their love of
Ancient Rome and their
Italian heritage.

A unique approach to Ancient

Rome inspiration was taken
when designing the home.
Each room is aesthetically
designed based on a different
Roman god or goddess. The
image featured above is of the
Rossis master suite and has
been decorated in cool,
tranquil colors drawn from the
goddess Diana of the Moon,
whom some may know her
better as Artemis in Greek
mythology. The home will be

built on a three acre lot, so

views were important, as
seen in the large windows of
the master bedroom that are
7 tall and 12 AFF. The
built-in cabinetry surrounding
the bed and window give a
focal point to the room
which is emphasized by the
accent wall paint color while
adding display space for
Antonios art collection.

white sun-blocking liners are
used with shades for the
large windows to save
energy and for privacy.

The Rossis also wanted a

home they could retire in, as
they were putting a lot of
money and effort into the
project, so universal design
was an important factor.
Lever handles, rocker switches,
flush doorways, and five foot
turn-around space are in all
rooms. The chairs shown in the
master suite are armless for
easy sitting or

daughter Isabella to match
her bedroom. The bright
colors are vibrant and
fitting for a young girl full of
energy. The rainhead is a
nice, relaxing feature with
easy-control buttons. Also,
the step-free shower
entrance and fold-down
bench seating also help
with universal design.
A unique feature is the sun
panel seen above the tub.
All the holes are cut from a
stainless steel panel with
lights behind it for a
beautiful display with
other lights off to imitate
stars.
