House Bill that Spurs Economic Growth Becomes Law

Cuts Red Tape for Local Distilleries

Raleigh, NC Today, Governor Pat McCrory signed HB-909: ABC Omnibus Legislation which would make various
changes to the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Commission laws. Most notably, the bill will allow distillery permit
holders to sell spirituous liquor distilled on premises to visitors of the distillery for consumption off the premises.
We heard from business owner after business owner across the State about ABC provisions that were impeding company
progress, Majority Leader Mike Hager (R-Rutherford) and said on Friday. HB-909 includes common-sense fixes that will
quickly translate to economic growth and job creation.
Wineries and breweries are able to sell their product on their premises, allowing distilleries to do the same is a reasonable
and consistent solution, stated Majority Whip John Bell (R-Wayne). Distillery owners will now have better opportunity to
grow a customer base; and thus, expand their operations and workforce exponentially.
