Mercy Otis Warren Aged 86, died in

Massachusetts, 19 October 1814. She was born in


Barnstable in 1728, buried in Plymouth. Warren
was a political leader and role-model to all women;
brave enough to write and publish numerous
poems and plays that urged colonists to resist
British transgressions on colonial liberties. Her
most prized pieces include Observation on the

New Constitution and on the Federal and State


Conventions, The Adulateur, The Defeat, The
Group, Observations on the New Constitution, as
well as History of the Rise, Progress, and
Termination of the American Revolution. She has
left two sons: James and Henry Otis.
