    COUNTY MOVES TO BOLSTER SCHOOL SAFETY


    WHAT:

    The Board of Supervisors is moving to boost campus safety and reduce


    truancies at schools in unincorporated parts of the county.
    Supervisors will vote on a proposal from Chairman Bill Horn and Supervisor
    Dianne Jacob that would spur the placement of Sheriffs Department resource
    officers and Probation Department officers on many campuses.
    Resource officers would be assigned to as many as 23 high schools, spread over
    10 school districts. The county would also work with districts to add probation
    officers to K-through-8 campuses and other schools to reduce truancies.
