DISMANTLING
Machine removed from treadle (refurbish as hand
machine)
Treadle mechanism separated from top or cabinet
All wooden parts checked carefully for woodworm. Dont
forget the drawers. Rejected if infested
Remove drawer supports from top or inside of cabinet
TREADLE MECHANISM
Treadle mechanism dismantled
All parts cleaned and thoroughly checked for cracks
Skirt guard belt guide spring present and working
Pitman/crank bearing checked for wear and adjusted as
required
Pitman/foot treadle bearing cleaned, greased and
adjusted as required
Rear belt guide present
All needle bearings greased, adjusted and lock nut
tightened
All fixing bolts tightened
Where fitted, all wheels checked for presence and correct
action
Re-assembled treadle mechanism works freely and easily
WOODEN BASES/CABINETS
Drawers cleaned and dirty, broken or rusty contents
discarded
Drawer supports repaired as required
Any loose veneer repaired or removed
Wooden parts re-assembled. All screws checked for
tightness, loose screws plugged as required
All wooden parts finally cleaned and polished
REASSEMBLY
Treadle mechanism and woodwork reassembled
Where fitted, machine counterbalance spring checked for
effective operation. Adjusted if required
Sewing machine fitted in treadle model 15k 66 201
Belt fitted and operation tested
